I'm not wholly a beginner anymore, but I feel rather like one. So apparently, that game is highly in depth and I didn't no how to manage the military within it. I had most of my units as reserves and was wondering why the only units I could use in defensive wars were conscript infantry and why I kept losing battles. Now I read the thing and fixed it by putting most of my units into fortification. Like before I couldn't use my big stockpile of tanks and planes or anything, I though the game was glitched or not ready.

Thats correct! Fortified units will automatically defend your nation, and deployed units will be available for offensive battles.
